Welcome!

Jena Schwartz created Jewish Creative Practice as container for her Jewish work in the world.

Jena believes that our creative practices can be a form of prayer, and that prayer can take many forms.

Most of all, she believes it is possible to feel at home in the world as whatever kind of Jew you are or wish to explore becoming – be it by walking in the woods, being of service, making good trouble, participating in ancient rituals, or creating new ones.

Here is a place for Jewish and Jew-curious folks who contain multitudes – and yearn for a deeper connection to themselves, creativity, creation, and community. Eventually, you’ll find classes and workshops here, as well.

Praying

It doesn’t have to be
the blue iris, it could be
weeds in a vacant lot, or a few
small stones; just
pay attention, then patch

a few words together and don’t try
to make them elaborate, this isn’t
a contest but the doorway

into thanks, and a silence in which
another voice may speak.
